In Freemansburg, Pennsylvania, controlled rock blasting is planned to start on or around January 5, 2026, close to Freemansburg Avenue and Washington Street. Depending on the weather and the status of the construction, the job, which will be carried out by Maine Drilling & Blasting, is anticipated to last for many months. Blasting activities will take place two to four days a week during daylight hours, usually around noon. There won't be any explosives kept on site overnight. Prior to each blast, warning horns will be sounded, including three long blasts five minutes before blasting and one long blast indicating all clear to proceed. Residents within 250 feet of the blasting area are eligible for a free pre-blast survey to document existing conditions. Minor ground vibration may be felt during blasting, but monitoring will be conducted to remain within established safety limits.
