Just after 4:00 p.m. on January 1st, the Watchung Fire Department was called to Route 78 eastbound before Exit 41 due to a reported overturned car that had left the road with potential entrapment. Watchung PBA Local 193 informed fire units that there was negative entrapment and minor injuries as they were in the way. After arriving at the site, Squad 60, Chief 60, and Assistant Chief 60 secured the car and waited for a tow truck to arrive. In order to give extra manpower coverage, Engine 603 was staffed in quarters. The agency also thanked the Berkeley Heights Fire agency, a mutual-aid partner, for its assistance and reaction.
