Fire damages mission beach duplex. Displacing residents.

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

A fire broke out in South Mission Beach on January 1st. Crews could see smoke and flames upon arrival. The fire was upgraded to a 3rd alarm response due to strong winds. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the second story of the duplex. There was a Tesla in the garage plugged in to a charger. If the Tesla was involved, there would be some major issues due to the toxicity. Battalion Chief Craig Newell said neighbors around the area were evacuated at first since there was concern the fire would spread. There were no reported injuries and the residents were able to get out.

A total of 14 crews were on the response.
