To honor Recruit Class 135-25, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire hosted a graduation ceremony at Acrisure Stadium. Twenty recruits in the class finished 26 weeks of rigorous physical training, receiving several fire service qualifications and EMT certification. Speaking to the graduates and their families, Chief of Fire Darryl Jones acknowledged the dedication needed to serve the community. In his speech to the recruits, Public Safety Director Lee Schmidt discussed the need of compassion and professionalism in emergency response. Training awards were given by Battalion Chief James Dolan to Terry Champine for physical fitness and Josiah Bupp for intellectual proficiency. Graduates are expected to report to their designated positions the following week after the ceremony ended with a benediction.
