New Year’s Day Blaze Destroys Pine Beach Home, Occupant Airlifted

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Pine Beach, NJ - Shortly after 12:00 P.M. on the afternoon of January 1st, Pine Beach Fire Co. and Beachwood Vol. Fire Department were alerted to the 500 block of Radnor Ave. for a reported working fire.

Just prior to the arrival of FD units, bystanders were able to rescue an elderly female from her vehicle. Unfortunately, the elderly female had suffered burns on her face and upper body and was airlifted to St. Barnabas Burn Center by EMS.

Units initially made an interior attack on the fire, but had to quickly evacuate due to the roof beginning to collapse. Fortunately, nobody else was injured and the fire was place under control in about an hour.

We would like to also thank Bayville Vol. Fire Dept., South Toms River EMS, Berkeley Township Police Department EMS and Beachwood EMS for their response to this incident. Also, a special thank you to the 7-11 in Pine Beach for their donation of water and Gatorade, as well as a resident who dropped off a large amount of food to the scene for responders.
