BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Recent training by the Berkeley Heights Fire Department reinforced technical rescue abilities required in complex emergencies by focusing on rescuing a victim trapped beneath a large object. Paratech MaxiForce air lifting bags are used by firefighters to raise and stabilize large objects like cars, equipment, and debris, especially in small areas. The exercise focused on understanding system limitations, stacking techniques, and correct airbag placement. In order to stabilize loads during lifting or lateral movement, crews also practiced the proper use of cribbing and supplementary supports. Up to 52 tonnes can be lifted using the airbag system employed during training.
