Bernardston Recognizes Regional First Responders on National Day of Appreciation

Bernardston, Mass. — October 28, 2026 — In the Bernardston region, local responders observed National First Responders Day on Wednesday by honoring public safety agencies and the men and women who safeguard their communities.

The Bernardston Fire Department showed its gratitude to the Bernardston Police Department, Northfield EMS, Colrain Volunteer Ambulance and Shelburne Control Dispatch for their ongoing collaboration.

The award honored not just first responders who react to crises, but also other essential workers involved in the situation. Dispatchers are vital because they handle emergency calls, collect details, and dispatch necessary resources to the location.
