Chester, Conn. — October 27, 2026 — Chester Hose Company is acknowledging Kelly Nelson, who became a volunteer in March 2026 and has regularly taken part in drills, meetings, and fundraising activities.
After ending his medical career, Nelson dedicated his time to serving his community. After finishing EMT training at Yale in fall 2025, he stated that helping sick people and getting them to the hospital quickly had been a goal for multiple years.
Nelson lives near the firehouse, allowing quick response when called. Outside work tasks, he is frequently spotted running or walking around town. The company encouraged residents to say hello when they see him.
