Fort Ann, N.Y. — October 10 —  Fort Ann Volunteer Fire Company members visited Fort Ann Central School for a fire prevention session, where they engaged with students on safety and readiness.

Firefighters connected with students during the visit, shared safety details, and made fire prevention lessons engaging. Members discussed the importance of being fire ready and fire smart, helping young people recognize potential hazards and make safer choices.

Teaching people about fire safety is a key element in lowering community hazards. Instruction that teaches children to recognize risks, act in crises, and grasp core fire safety principles can strengthen learning within the household and the wider community.

Fort Ann Central School was thanked by the department for hosting the visit, and the participating members were acknowledged: Chief Lashinsky, Assistant Chief A. Call, Lieutenant Duggan, WFA Lieutenant D. Bailey, WFA Lieutenant M. Bailey, Firefighter H. Call, Firefighter Hanna, Firefighter Murray, Firefighter Palmer, Firefighter Sweenor, Social Member Thibault and WFA Firefighter Williamson.

The school’s public feed also recognized visits from the Fort Ann Volunteer Fire Company and West Fort Ann Volunteer Fire Company, thanking the departments for showing elementary students what firefighters do and how to stay safe.
