Cheektowaga, N.Y. — October 16 — Members of Doyle Hose Company No.2 took part in a back-to-basics training session led by Chief Burdzy. This exercise brought together both newer and more experienced firefighters to go over important aspects of fireground operations.
During the session, the group practiced connecting to hydrants, deploying and breaking down hose lines, operating the pump, and properly repacking hoses. They also reviewed the Engine 3 and its associated equipment to stay familiar with the apparatus.
These activities helped ensure that the team is prepared for emergencies. Having a dependable water supply, setting up hose lines, and operating pumps are fundamental parts of firefighting. Correctly repacking hoses also helps keep the equipment in good condition for future calls.
The drill provided a chance for firefighters to review procedures and exchange knowledge between different levels of experience. Consistent practice helps maintain essential skills and improves teamwork during emergency situations.
Doyle Hose Company No. 2 continues to emphasize hands-on training, equipment knowledge, and coordination to ensure safe and effective emergency responses.
