Hyde Park, N.Y. — October 15 — Volunteers from the Roosevelt Fire District carried out their yearly fire prevention school tour, visiting Gummy Bear Day Care, Hyde Park Nursery School, North Park Elementary School, and Ralph R.Smith Elementary School.

During these visits, firefighters educated students on fundamental fire safety practices, such as the importance of staying low when moving through smoke. They also showed the students a fire hose and explained the equipment used during emergency responses.

Students were given the chance to see the district’s ambulance and fire engines, take a look inside the smoke house, and learn about the protective gear firefighters wear. These demonstrations helped children become more familiar with emergency equipment and understand the role firefighters play in their community.

These visits were part of the district’s public education initiatives. Fire safety programs help children learn how to react in emergencies, recognize smoke alarms, and follow safe escape procedures. The National Fire Protection Association also promotes age-appropriate fire safety education to assist families and communities in reducing fire risks.

The Roosevelt Fire District expressed gratitude to the schools and their staff for allowing the volunteers to visit and for providing meals and refreshments during the tour. The district also acknowledged its members for taking time away from their regular duties to take part in the program.

The annual tour emphasized the importance of community outreach and early fire safety education. Firefighters encouraged students and families to keep practicing fire safety measures at home throughout the year.
