Wappingers Falls, N.Y. — October 6 — Firefighters from New Hamburg Engine Company No.1 participated in their annual fire prevention activities at Sheafe Road School before moving on to visit Astor School.
The firefighters carried out the yearly fire prevention visit and fire alarm pull exercise at Sheafe Road School. This visit contributed to the school's fire safety initiatives by allowing students and staff to engage in activities that focused on emergency response procedures and building evacuation.
Following the activities at Sheafe Road School, the firefighters traveled to Astor School for another visit as part of their ongoing community fire prevention efforts.
Fire prevention programs in schools help students and staff learn how to recognize alarm signals, follow evacuation instructions, and move safely to designated gathering areas. Regular drills also assist school staff in reviewing emergency procedures and identifying any areas where evacuation plans might require improvement.
The National Fire Protection Association’s annual Fire Prevention Week campaign also encourages fire safety education and promotes actions that can help reduce fire risks in the community. These efforts support the work of local fire departments by helping residents and school communities better prepare for emergencies.
New Hamburg Engine Company No. 1 expressed their thanks to the firefighters and other individuals involved in the school visits. The annual activities emphasize the department’s ongoing commitment to public education and fire prevention within the community.
