Elba, N.Y. — October 7, 2026 — Members of the Elba Joint Fire District went to Elba Central School to instruct prekindergarten and kindergarten students on fire safety, allowing the youngest learners to explore fire apparatus and join in a hands-on demonstration.
The students already possessed significant knowledge about fire safety, according to firefighters. At the visit, children explored the department's trucks and could spray water from a brush truck.
Students learned about firefighter gear and practiced fire safety lessons in an interactive setting. School visits also allow emergency responders to become familiar with their equipment and explain how they protect the community.
