Batavia Firefighters Conduct Boat Operations Training at DeWitt Park

Batavia, N.Y. — October 28, 2026 — City of Batavia Fire Department members are training boat operations with New York State fire personnel at DeWitt Recreation Area. A public notice asks residents not to be alarmed by multiple emergency vehicles.

Firefighters practice boat operations and keep water-related emergency skills sharp through this training. These activities assist teams in getting ready for emergencies needing water access, vessel operation, and responder cooperation. DeWitt Recreation Area, located at 115 Cedar Street in Batavia, includes a lake and a boat launch used for recreational access. The location provides an area where crews can conduct water-based training.
