Wellsville, N.Y. — October 11 — Members of the Wellsville NY Volunteer Fire Department assisted with the New York State Interior Firefighters Operations (IFO) class at the Wellsville Training Facility, where participants focused on hose line operations.

Wellsville 2 supported the session, giving firefighters an opportunity to practice skills used during interior structural fire responses. Hose line training helped participants review how to deploy hose, advance lines into buildings, and coordinate water delivery during fire suppression operations.

Proper hose line advancement is an important part of interior firefighting. Crews must work together to move hose through doorways and hallways while maintaining communication and a reliable water supply. These skills help firefighters prepare for changing conditions inside a structure.

The IFO course builds on basic firefighter training and prepares qualified members for interior structural firefighting duties.

New York State training materials include hose line advancement, coordinated interior attack, ventilation, and firefighter survival among the skills covered in interior operations instruction.

The Wellsville Fire Department has supported state training programs and hands-on instruction to help members develop and maintain their operational skills.

Its participation in the class also supported training opportunities for firefighters preparing for interior assignments.

The October 11 session reinforced the value of regular practical training, teamwork, and safe hose line operations in preparing firefighters for structural emergencies.
