Guilderland, N.Y. — October 3 — The Guilderland Fire Department hosted its annual open house, inviting community members to meet firefighters, tour the fire station, and learn more about fire safety.
The event provided a chance for residents to connect with emergency responders, explore the firehouse, and gain insight into the department's operations and fire prevention initiatives.
Firefighters welcomed visitors and shared information about their work in protecting the community. Attendees had the opportunity to view firefighting equipment and learn about the department's emergency response and safety education efforts.
This annual event is part of the department's ongoing public outreach program, which includes educational activities for schools, libraries, and other community organizations. In previous years, open house events have featured firefighter demonstrations and interactive fire safety sessions, helping residents better understand basic safety practices and the tools used by firefighters.
These community events also help strengthen the relationship between emergency responders and the people they serve.
Direct interaction with firefighters allowed residents to ask questions, learn about fire prevention, and gain a deeper understanding of the department's role in the community.
The Guilderland Fire Department expressed its gratitude to the residents who attended, as well as the department members and volunteers who helped organize the event. Photos from the open house were shared with those who couldn't attend.
The open house emphasized the importance of public education, community engagement, and continued support for the volunteer fire service.
