Clinton-Area Firefighters Move More Than 2,000 GPM in Water Supply Drill

Clinton, N.J. — October 4 — Firefighters from Clinton Fire Department and mutual-aid partners conducted a large-scale water-supply drill Sunday, deploying approximately 3,000 feet of five-inch large-diameter hose across five engine companies.

Crews sustained a flow of more than 2,000 gallons per minute to Tower Ladder 45, testing their ability to establish and maintain a high-volume water supply during fireground operations.

Large-diameter hose is used to move substantial amounts of water from a supply source to apparatus operating at an incident. Coordinating multiple engine companies requires effective pump operations, hose deployment, pressure management and communication between crews.
