Califon, N.J. — October 15 — Califon Fire Company firefighters visited Happy Face Nursery School and Califon Public School to teach fire-prevention lessons to students and staff.
Deputy Burke, Firefighter Duryea and Firefighter Bergmann were part of the visit. The team engaged with school communities to promote fire safety as part of the corporate outreach initiative.
Firefighters visit schools to teach children basic fire-safety practices and explain the responsibilities of emergency responders. Suitable lessons for young people can cover identifying smoke alarms, understanding how to react to a fire alarm, keeping low while smoke is present, and exiting a building using an evacuation plan with adult guidance.
