From Rescue 5 Pump Training to Burnham Park: Hinsdale Fire Completes Multi-Task Morning

Hinsdale, NY - Seven volunteer firefighters from the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department balanced technical skills training with neighborhood service during their weekly morning drill on Friday, October 23, 2026.

The operational period began with hands-on pump operations utilizing Rescue 5, allowing personnel to practice continuous discharge management and flow pressures. The session was briefly put on hold when Hinsdale Squad 3 was dispatched to mitigate an urgent medical incident within the department's first-due district.

Following the conclusion of the medical call, the crew completed a community assistance request from a local resident, deploying hose lines to wash down the ground beneath the public pavilions at Burnham Park.

Department leadership highlighted the session to invite new community members into the volunteer fire service, emphasizing that weekly morning drills and Tuesday evening sessions provide flexible entry points for residents managing work and family commitments.
