Niverville, NY - Volunteer firefighters from the Niverville Fire Department expanded and recertified their emergency medical proficiencies through a comprehensive cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and airway obstruction course led by the Valatie Volunteer Rescue Squad.

The training evolution, recognized on Saturday, October 10, 2026, provided members with both foundational and refresher instruction in life-saving resuscitation techniques. The curriculum encompassed high-quality chest compressions and ventilations across all patient demographics—adult, pediatric, and infant—alongside practical maneuvers for relieving foreign body airway obstructions in choking emergencies.

Led by Valatie Rescue Squad instructor Dave Yates, the hands-on session emphasized rapid intervention, scene assessment, and high-performance teamwork during sudden cardiac arrest scenarios.

Department officials commended Instructor Yates and the Valatie Volunteer Rescue Squad for delivering an engaging educational environment. The joint initiative highlights the robust, ongoing operational collaboration between local fire suppression personnel and emergency medical services across northern Columbia County.
