Dry Conditions, Wind Increase Outside Fires

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Martin, TN – Martin Fire Department B-Shift responded to a grass fire in Weakley County October 22, 2022. The fire started as a trash fire and quickly got out of control. It spread to the nearby dry grass. Without quick intervention it would likely have spread to the field and potentially the resident’s home. With moderate to severe drought conditions and high winds in West Tennessee, the risk of outside fires has increased dramatically.
