Gloucester City, N.J. — October 9 — Members of the Gloucester City Firefighters and Fire Officers welcomed students from Gloucester Middle School to the firehouse and visited students at Cold Springs School as part of their fire prevention outreach efforts.
During the visits, students toured the firehouse, viewed fire trucks and emergency equipment, and learned important fire safety tips from department members. The activities gave students an opportunity to meet local firefighters, become familiar with fire service equipment, and learn more about the work involved in protecting their community.
The visits also supported the department’s efforts to build relationships with local schools and promote fire safety awareness among young residents. Gloucester Middle School served students in grades four through eight, while Cold Springs School provided education from preschool through grade three, according to Gloucester City Public Schools.
School visits and firehouse tours offered firefighters an opportunity to share safety information in a setting where students could ask questions and see emergency equipment firsthand. The National Fire Protection Association also encouraged fire safety education, including teaching families to maintain working smoke alarms and practice home escape plans.
The Gloucester City Firefighters and Fire Officers thanked the students and school staff for taking part in the visits. The department’s outreach highlighted the value of working with local schools to help young people understand fire safety and the role of their community fire service.
