Antrim, NH - Members of Antrim Fire & Ambulance visited Antrim Elementary School to deliver life-safety education, fire apparatus tours, and modern fire prevention lessons to students in celebration of National Fire Prevention Week.

The educational visit took place on Friday, October 16, 2026, engaging multiple grade levels with age-tailored safety guidance. Younger pupils explored foundational fire safety concepts, such as the critical role of working residential smoke detectors and the importance of establishing and practicing a home emergency escape plan with their families.

Kindergarten classes were given a hands-on experience outdoors, touring a frontline fire engine and learning about the tools emergency personnel use on the job.

In line with this year's national theme, "Charge Into Fire Safety: Safe Charging," firefighters delivered specialized instruction to third and fourth-grade students regarding the hazards and proper handling of lithium-ion batteries.

Presenters highlighted the prevalence of rechargeable batteries in everyday electronics—from tablets to toys—and emphasized safe charging habits to mitigate thermal runaway and electrical fire risks across the Hillsborough County school community.

At the conclusion of the event, all participating students received commemorative fire prevention materials and safety items to reinforce the lessons at home with their families.
