Berlin, N.J. — October 7 — Berlin Fire Company No.1 invited local residents and their families to its annual Fire Prevention Night on October 7, offering the community a chance to meet firefighters, see emergency equipment, and gain knowledge about fire safety.
At the event, firefighters demonstrated their tools, addressed visitors' questions, and shared tips on fire prevention and emergency preparedness. The open house also helped build stronger relationships between emergency responders and the people they serve.
As the event took place, West Berlin Fire-Rescue and Waterford Township Fire Department provided emergency coverage for the community. This support allowed Berlin firefighters to concentrate on public engagement while ensuring emergency services continued without interruption. The collaboration demonstrated the importance of mutual aid in supporting neighboring departments during community events.
The Berlin Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard, and Countywide Property Restoration LLC offered refreshments to event attendees. A&F Lawn Care LLC also provided a meal for the firefighters following the event.
The department acknowledged the contributions of the participating organizations, businesses, and residents who helped make the evening successful.
Berlin Fire Company No. 1 functions as a volunteer fire department serving the borough. Its educational initiatives aim to reduce fire risks by promoting awareness and prevention strategies. The Borough of Berlin’s Bureau of Fire Prevention also provided safety information and resources, including advice on smoke alarms and home escape plans. The event ended with the department expressing gratitude to the residents and supporters for their involvement.
