Browns Mills, N.J. — October 3 — Members of the Pemberton Township Volunteer Fire Department participated in emergency medical services (EMS) lifting training during their Saturday duty shift on October 3. Two of the department’s four newly certified firefighters joined the hands-on session as crew members worked on improving their practical skills for emergency response.
EMS lifting training allows responders to practice moving and lifting patients while minimizing the risk of injury to both patients and responders. Correct body mechanics, clear communication, and teamwork are essential when handling patients in confined spaces or during difficult calls.
For fire and EMS personnel, ongoing training helps reinforce safe work practices and ensures crews can support each other effectively during emergencies. Practical drills also give newer members the chance to apply their training and gain experience in working as a team during incidents.
The Pemberton Township Fire Department is authorized to provide fire protection, rescue, emergency medical services, and other public safety services within the township and surrounding areas. Township regulations also permit the department to conduct training sessions to maintain the proficiency of its members.
The department operates from multiple stations, including its Browns Mills location at 15 Trenton Road. Continued training supports the department’s mission of protecting residents and responding to various types of emergencies.
The October 3 session offered members a chance to practice EMS lifting techniques while helping newly certified firefighters develop their skills.
