— October 3 — Fire departments from across Sussex County gathered in Sussex Borough for the yearly Inspection Day and Parade, celebrating the volunteer fire service and its traditions.
At the event, the Hardyston Township Volunteer Fire Department secured two awards: a first-place finish in the tanker category and second place in marching for a medium-sized department, as stated in their announcement.
Fire companies gathered in the parade to display their equipment and march in formation. The Sussex County Firemen’s Association’s published parade rules specify judging and awards, meaning apparatus presentation and marching form part of the competition.
