Vincentown, N.J. — October 4 — Hampton Lakes Volunteer Fire Company organized a Fire Prevention Open House from 1 p.m.to 5 p.m., inviting families and community members to participate in an afternoon dedicated to fire safety and community engagement.
The event provided residents with the chance to meet local firefighters and gain a better understanding of the volunteer fire company's role in supporting the community. Fire prevention open houses serve as a way for departments to strengthen ties with residents and encourage families to incorporate fire safety into their everyday lives.
Virtua Eat Well was also present at the event, handing out bags of fruit while supplies lasted. Virtua Health’s Eat Well initiative aims to increase access to healthy food and promote healthier living throughout South Jersey.
Community events like this one allow fire departments to share important safety information beyond emergency situations and keep in touch with the people they protect. Families can take advantage of these opportunities to talk about home fire safety, inspect smoke alarms, and review escape plans.
The open house highlighted the Hampton Lakes Volunteer Fire Company’s efforts in community outreach and combined fire prevention awareness with support from a local health and nutrition program.
