Cinnaminson, N.J. — October 15 — Members of the Cinnaminson Fire Department’s Explorer and Junior programs participated in a training session with B Platoon and the volunteer duty crew, focusing on the process of connecting fire hoses between fire engines.
This exercise allowed younger members to work with experienced firefighters and practice connecting hose lines between vehicles. The session covered basic hose operations, getting familiar with equipment, and working as a team, all of which are essential skills for effective fireground operations.
Training with experienced personnel also enabled Explorers and Juniors to learn about the department’s procedures and how crews collaborate during emergency responses. These programs introduce young members to the responsibilities of the fire service while helping them gain knowledge and confidence through guided instruction.
The Cinnaminson Fire Department offers youth programs that provide hands-on exposure to emergency services, equipment, and department procedures. This experience can help prepare interested participants for potential future roles in the fire service.
Proper hose connections and equipment handling continue to be key components of fireground preparedness. The National Fire Protection Association’s fire hose standards include guidelines for hose connections, nozzles, and other related equipment used by fire departments.
The training brought together youth members and experienced crews to enhance practical skills and support ongoing learning within the department.
