Pleasantville, N.J. — September 21 — The Pleasantville Fire Department honored Firefighters Flukey and Jackson after both completed their first year of service with the department.
This achievement marked an important milestone in their journey as firefighters. As a way to recognize their accomplishment, both firefighters were granted the privilege of wearing the department’s official “7” helmet front, a tradition that symbolized their progress, dedication, and standing within the department.
The “7” helmet front represented the hard work and commitment needed to become a fully established member of the fire service. Reaching the one-year mark showed the time and effort invested in learning department procedures, developing skills, and preparing to serve the community.
Ongoing training and personal development are vital to maintaining firefighter readiness. The National Volunteer Fire Council has emphasized the importance of continuous training and opportunities for growth in helping departments build strong, capable teams and support firefighter retention.
For fire departments, acknowledging such milestones can also help foster a sense of teamwork and motivate members to keep improving their knowledge and abilities.
The Pleasantville Fire Department congratulated Flukey and Jackson on completing their first year and earning the right to wear the department’s “7” helmet front as they continued their service to the Pleasantville community.
