On the morning of October 6th, the North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue held their first "Remember the Fallen" Memorial Service with a new monument at Fire Headquarters on Port Imperial Blvd., West New York.

The monument bears the names of twelve fallen members from the former fire departments of Union City, North Bergen, West New York, Weehawken and Guttenberg, plus the North Hudson Regional department, dating back to 1911. Relatives of the fallen were in attendance.

At the conclusion of the service, Fire Control dispatched a full assignment to the 500-block of 44th Street in Union City for a reported fire in a five-story apartment building. Added on to the radio transmission was, "Receiving numerous phone calls."

Arriving units located a fire in a fourth-floor apartment. Fire suppression operations began and residents were removed from the building.

The beat goes on.
