OXFORD, N.J. — October 10 — Oxford Central School students engaged in a fire safety education program covering prevention, emergency readiness, and safe decision-making.
Oxford Volunteer Fire Department members visited the school to instruct students on household fire risks, working smoke detectors, and home escape plans. Students could meet firefighters, learn about their gear, and see how fire safety training applies to real emergencies.
The program emphasized several important safety practices, including checking smoke alarms, identifying escape routes, choosing an outdoor meeting place and practicing home fire drills. Students were also reminded to get outside and stay outside if a fire occurs.
