Milmay, N.J. — September 30 — Members of the Milmay Volunteer Fire Company participated in their regular monthly joint drill with firefighters from Stations 12-2 and 12-1 at the Atlantic County Fire Academy in Egg Harbor Township. The training session centered on propane fire scenarios and hands-on fireground techniques.
During the exercise, firefighters had the chance to engage with controlled propane fire situations and review the proper procedures for handling incidents involving pressurized fuel cylinders and gas systems. The academy’s propane training area featured realistic mock-ups that mimicked fires from barbecue grills, commercial propane tanks, industrial machinery, and vehicles.
Training on propane fires required firefighters to evaluate the scene, locate fuel sources, and recognize the dangers associated with pressurized containers. Firefighters had to follow established safety protocols, wear suitable protective gear, and work together effectively during fire suppression.
The monthly joint drill also provided an opportunity for members from different departments to train together, improve communication, and become more familiar with each other’s operational approaches. These regular multi-department exercises helped ensure crews were prepared for emergencies that needed collaboration and support from nearby departments.
The Atlantic County Fire Academy conducted the training at the Anthony “Tony” Canale Fire Training Center, which is a county facility used for public safety instruction.
The Milmay Volunteer Fire Company, located at 225 Broad Street in Milmay, continues to use joint training sessions to keep firefighters prepared and enhance regional collaboration.
