ANDOVER, N.H. — October 12 — Members of the Andover Fire Department removed around 1,800 gallons of water from Engine 1 on Monday evening as part of the process for a planned maintenance check.

This action was taken to enable the department to properly prepare the vehicle for inspection and maintenance. Regular checks allow fire departments to spot equipment issues early, ensure safe operation, and keep emergency vehicles in good condition for when they are needed.

The engine was added to the department’s fleet to assist with fireground operations and support mutual aid responses. Water tanks, pumps, valves, and other related equipment are essential parts of a fire engine’s firefighting system. Routine inspections and maintenance help crews ensure these parts are working properly and are available when an emergency occurs.

The water removal was a step taken in preparation for the scheduled maintenance check. The department did not report any equipment problems or changes to the service status of Engine 1.

The Town of Andover lists the fire department’s headquarters at 169 Main Street in Andover, New Hampshire.

Keeping the equipment in good condition is a key part of supporting the department’s emergency response efforts.
