ANDOVER, NH — September 17 — Ciaran Harper, a member of the Andover Fire Department, successfully completed his Firefighter I training modules and written examinations, representing a significant milestone in his journey as a firefighter.
Harper joined the Andover Fire Department within the last year following his time with the Salisbury Fire Explorers. His experience with the Explorers gave him initial exposure to the fire service, which he then built upon through further training with Andover.
Harper completed his Firefighter I coursework through the New Hampshire Fire Academy and the Emergency Medical Services Online Learning Academy. The state-run program provided self-paced online modules along with in-person practical training to ensure firefighters met the standards for Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications.
The New Hampshire Fire Academy's Firefighter I training included topics like firefighter safety, protective gear, fire behavior, ladders, search and rescue, ventilation, water supply, and fire suppression. The program combined online learning with hands-on instruction to equip students with the knowledge and abilities necessary for emergency response operations.
Finishing the modules and passing the written tests marked a key advancement in Harper’s training. Firefighter certification also involves completing the necessary practical skills and passing certification assessments.
The Andover Fire Department acknowledged Harper’s accomplishments and welcomed his continued growth within the organization. His progress highlighted the importance of continuous learning, hands-on training, and preparation for the duties of emergency services.
