AUBURN, MA. — October 6 — Group 2 members of Auburn Fire-Rescue participated in two training exercises. The first activity focused on portable ladder operations, followed by ventilator training aimed at improving patient care skills.

In the morning, firefighters practiced launching and positioning a 28-foot ladder. Correct ladder placement and safe handling are essential skills for reaching high areas, assisting in rescue efforts, and providing access during emergencies.

After the ladder exercise, Group 2 transitioned to ventilator training. All four groups within the department were set to complete this training to enhance their ability to deliver proper care to patients needing breathing assistance.

Ventilators assist patients who are unable to breathe adequately on their own. Training enables emergency medical personnel to understand equipment functions, follow medical procedures, and work effectively as a team during patient care. The specific procedures used can vary depending on the type of ventilator and the patient’s condition.

These sessions were part of Auburn Fire-Rescue's continuous training program. According to the department’s official website, on-duty personnel engage in daily training sessions under the supervision of shift commanders, with company drills organized through the Training Division.

The training program ensures preparedness in fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical services. By blending hands-on equipment practice with medical training, firefighters and emergency medical staff maintain the skills necessary to respond effectively to a wide range of incidents.
