Rollinsford, N.H. — October 12 — Members of the Rollinsford Fire Department visited Rollinsford Grade School on Monday, October 12.During the visit, they were warmly welcomed by students and staff as part of a community outreach initiative.

This visit provided firefighters with an opportunity to connect with the school community and promote fire safety awareness among local students. School visits help create a better understanding between children and emergency responders, while also allowing students to learn more about the important work firefighters do.

Fire safety education is a vital part of helping children understand how to act during an emergency. Lessons may include recognizing smoke alarms, knowing when to call 911, identifying safe exits, and understanding the importance of having a home escape plan. Students also learn to stay outside after leaving a building during a fire and to meet family members at a predetermined location.

Rollinsford Grade School serves students from kindergarten through sixth grade and focuses on teaching values such as respect, making good choices, and keeping themselves and others safe. Partnerships with local emergency services can support these lessons and help students become more familiar with public safety resources in their community.

The fire department expressed gratitude to the school’s staff and students for their warm welcome. The visit highlighted the importance of working together between local schools and fire departments to share safety information and strengthen community ties.

Public education continues to be a key part of the fire service, along with emergency response, training, and maintaining readiness of equipment.
