Ravena and Selkirk FD Train Together

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

BETHLEHEM, NY - A live fire training drill was conducted with the teamwork of two local fire departments on Saturday, October 2nd. The Ravena FD conducted live burn training with the Selkirk FD at the Town of Bethlehem’s Fire Training Tower.

The Town of Coeymans has no fire training center, so the departments in that area have no training grounds to conduct these important training events for members to gain and strengthen their skills and knowledge necessary to do their work.

Ravena Fire brought Ladder 26-70 and Rescue 26-40 to the drill with Selkirk bringing Engine 29-21 and 29-55, the air truck.

29-55 is brought to actual structure fires and to training events like this to fill firefighter’s air bottles directly at the scene without having to bring the empty air bottles to the nearest firehouse that has a system to fill them up.

Ravena Fire brought eight members to the drill to take part in this training.

Not pictured is Ravena Fire also using the facility to practice ladder placement of ground ladder and their aerial ladder for ventilation and rescue purposes.
