Wells River Firefighters Practiced Vehicle Extrication Techniques

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Wells River Fire Department personnel engaged in a practical vehicle extraction drill on September 22, revisiting the methods and tools deployed to access individuals trapped in damaged automobiles following collisions.

Safety assessment, vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, and vehicle size-up formed the foundation of the training session. Members talked about possible risks, evaluating vehicle damage, and creating an extrication plan that matched the scene conditions and patient requirements.

Firefighters then used hydraulic rescue equipment like the Jaws of Life to practice cutting and spreading vehicle parts and creating access and removal points.
