— October 9 — Members of the South Foster Volunteer Fire Company visited Captain Isaac Paine School in Foster, Rhode Island, on October 9 to teach students about fire prevention and emergency safety as part of Fire Prevention Week.

Firefighters demonstrated their personal protective equipment by dressing in full turnout gear and self-contained breathing apparatus ( SCBA). The demonstration helped students see and hear what firefighters may look and sound like while operating at an emergency scene. Members emphasized that children should not hide from firefighters during a fire because crews are there to locate and assist them.
