— September 27, 2026 — Samantha Spector, representing the Town of Coventry Coventry Fire EMS, took part in the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in New York City on Sunday, joining other runners and supporters in paying tribute to the service and sacrifice of first responders and military personnel.
The annual event commemorates FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller, who, while off duty on September 11, 2001, walked through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel en route to the World Trade Center to assist others. Siller passed away while responding to the attacks.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation provides support to families of fallen first responders and military personnel, as well as to veterans and first responders who have suffered catastrophic injuries. Its programs offer mortgage-free homes to eligible families and specially adapted homes for individuals with serious injuries.
