Cudebackville, NY - Volunteer firefighters from the Cuddebackville Fire Department joined forces with neighboring departments Thursday evening, pushing through rigorous live-fire evolutions focused on primary search operations and aggressive interior handline deployment.

On October 8, 2026, personnel from Cuddebackville ("Station 10"), Westbrookville Volunteer Fire Company, and the host Huguenot Fire Company entered a controlled burn environment to simulate the intense conditions of an active structure fire.

The joint evolutions gave crews practical experience advancing charged hose lines through heavy smoke, navigating zero-visibility conditions, and coordinating rapid search-and-rescue sweeps to locate simulated victims under live-fire heat.

Firefighters practiced tactical communication, nozzle techniques, and crew accountability while operating in synchronized entry teams.

Training officers emphasized that joint burns with automatic and mutual aid partners are essential for building operational trust and communication, ensuring that firefighters from neighboring districts function as a unified force when arriving together at real structural fires across western Orange County.

Cuddebackville Command extended sincere thanks to the Huguenot Fire Company for hosting the evolutions and providing the live-fire training venue.
