This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

SEEKONK, Mass. — September 29, 2026 — After receiving two full sets of vehicle extrication tools, Seekonk firefighters participated in hands-on training.

The training allowed crews to get acquainted with the new equipment and rehearse various methods for extracting occupants from wrecked vehicles. Firefighters engaged in hands-on simulations to assess tool usage and enhance their teamwork during rescue missions.

Tools used for vehicle extrication, such as hydraulic cutters and spreaders, assist firefighters in reaching individuals trapped inside vehicles following collisions. Using this equipment enables crews to practice safe tool handling, learn about equipment capabilities, and get ready for the difficulties posed by compromised vehicle structures.
