WESTPORT, Mass. — October 12, 2026 — Westport Firefighter/ Paramedics visited Little Learners on State Road last week to teach children about fire safety and introduce them to the work firefighters do in the community.
During the visit, the children explored a ladder truck and learned about the protective gear firefighters wear while responding to emergencies. The visit gave students an opportunity to see firefighting equipment up close and become more familiar with emergency personnel.
Firefighters also used the visit to share basic fire safety information in a setting designed for young children. Helping children understand the role of firefighters and the importance of fire prevention can build awareness and make emergency responders less unfamiliar if children encounter them during an emergency.
