PROCTORSVILLE, Vt. — October 7, 2026 —  On Wednesday evening, firefighters from the Proctorsville Volunteer Fire Department held a training session centered on ground ladder techniques and rope-assisted hoisting tools. Cavendish Fire Department members also attended the session, alongside Proctorsville’s junior firefighters.

The group was split into three teams, and each team took turns working at a station that emphasized a different skill.

At the first station, firefighters trained using a 14-foot roof ladder. The second station involved raising tools to upper floors with ropes. At the third station, participants used a 24-foot extension ladder, evaluating proper placement for various tasks and practicing techniques for raising and lowering the ladder with two people. The junior firefighters also participated, giving them an opportunity to develop their knowledge of ladder use and basic fireground skills.
