— September 16, 2026 — Firefighters from Plymouth and surrounding areas took part in a regional mutual aid training exercise centered on rural water supply operations. The drill gathered crews from various departments to practice transferring water between vehicles and ensuring a consistent supply for firefighting operations.

The exercise, hosted by the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department, involved personnel and equipment from Proctorsville, Ludlow, Bridgewater, Killington, Reading, Woodstock, and Pomfret. The departments involved handled various water supply tasks to build coordination skills for larger incidents.

One crew was assigned to establish a water supply from a dry hydrant and move water through a rural water supply setup to a Plymouth engine. The engine then supplied the Ludlow Tower Truck.

The crew used two sections of hard suction hose to draft water from the source. Through a four-inch hose line, the crew maintained a reported flow of 1,160 gallons per minute to the Ludlow Tower Truck.

On the north side of the training site, a tanker shuttle operated with several other tankers to supply the Bridgewater and Killington engines as their crews used ground monitors. This setup allowed firefighters to practice coordinating water delivery across multiple operations at the same time.
