Tiverton, R.I. — September 29 — Firefighters from the Tiverton Fire Department and Little Compton Fire Department participated in two days of live fire training at the Union Fire District Burn Building. The training focused on essential fireground skills and the experience of realistic fire situations.

In the mornings, the crews rotated through three training stations where they practiced fundamental firefighting tasks under live fire conditions. In the afternoons, they applied these skills in realistic scenarios that included higher heat, more intense fire conditions, and reduced visibility.

These exercises provided the crews with a chance to practice in an environment that is hard to replicate during regular department drills. Training under such conditions allowed firefighters to strengthen their core skills, boost their confidence, and enhance their coordination with their teammates.

The Union Fire District facility offered a controlled setting for practical live fire training. Instructors used the burn building to create various training scenarios and assist crews in practicing responses to evolving fire situations.

Training alongside members of another department also allowed the crews to work together and practice communication during simulated emergencies. These abilities were vital when firefighters needed to coordinate tasks and respond to changing conditions at real emergency scenes.

The departments expressed their appreciation to the training cadre, Hold the Line Training Company, Union Fire District, and the support staff who helped organize the two-day training sessions. The experience highlighted the importance of joint exercises in maintaining preparedness and fostering stronger teamwork between neighboring fire departments.
