From the Fairgrounds to the Home: Fire Prevention Outreach in West Springfield

— September 20, 2026 — Fire prevention officials from across Massachusetts are helping educate fairgoers about home fire safety at The Big E, the annual Eastern States Exposition held in West Springfield. 

As part of the outreach effort, local fire prevention personnel volunteered at the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services booth, sharing fire safety information and helping visitors identify potential hazards inside the home. 

Fire Inspector Dennis Carlson staffed the booth on Friday, September 18, while Fire Marshal Greg Morin participated on Sunday, September 20. Their involvement supported the department’s ongoing efforts to make fire prevention information accessible to the public.
