Broadalbin, NY - Volunteer firefighters from the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company (BKFC) took part in an intensive, multi-discipline training night on Monday, September 21, 2026, rotating through specialized amphibious rescue evolutions and rapid fireground operational drills in Fulton County.

Staged at the Sacandaga Boat Club, one BKFC team focused on operating the department's specialized ARGO amphibious all-terrain vehicle. Crews ran evolutions testing the unit's versatility across rough terrain and open water along the lake shoreline.

Firefighters drilled on handling the tracked apparatus during water crossings, victim retrievals in remote wilderness areas, personnel and equipment transport, wildland firefighting using its onboard tank and pump, and seasonal preparations for ice-rescue scenarios.

Concurrently, a second company crew drilled on critical first-due procedures for structural firefighting. Responders practiced rapid deployments of attack hoselines, primary water supply hookups and tank-to-pump transfers, ground ladder placement for rescue and ventilation, and high-output scene lighting.

Training officers emphasized that rapid deployment is essential against modern lightweight construction and synthetic furnishings, where fires burn hotter and reach flashover significantly faster. The dual-track session underscored BKFC's commitment to continuous readiness across the diverse emergency demands of the Adirondack foothills.
