Hinsdale, NY — September 29 — Sixteen members of the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department completed their vehicle extrication training session as they prepared to move on to the next training topic, which was scheduled for the following month.
During the session, the members worked together and practiced various vehicle extrication techniques, such as removing car doors, opening a vehicle roof, and performing a dash roll. These exercises helped firefighters practice methods to reach and remove people trapped inside damaged vehicles.
Vehicle extrication required teamwork, careful use of tools, and a focus on patient safety. Firefighters needed to understand how vehicles are constructed and how to navigate around damaged areas while creating access for rescue personnel.
The department’s training emphasized completing each task correctly and working together during rescue operations.
Regular practice helped the members maintain their skills and prepare for the challenges they might face during motor vehicle crashes.
The session marked the end of the department’s scheduled extrication training season. Members were expected to begin a new subject the following month as the department continued its training program.
The Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department acknowledged the dedication of its members, whose time spent training supported the department’s readiness and community service. Continued hands-on practice remained an important part of preparing volunteer firefighters for emergency calls.
