Keystone Valley Fire Department Honored Those Lost on September 11

Parkesburg, PA — September 11 — The Keystone Valley Fire Department reflected on the September 11, 2001, attacks and paid tribute to the lives lost 25 years ago. The department honored the victims and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others.


The attacks resulted in the loss of nearly 3,000 lives in New York, at the Pentagon in Virginia, and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, and other responders worked tirelessly to help victims and assist with rescue and recovery efforts.


The effects of September 11 continued long after that day. Many firefighters and other responders later developed illnesses connected to their work at the attack sites. Their service and sacrifice remained a significant part of the fire service's history.


For the emergency services community, the anniversary served as a time to remember those who did not return home, recognize the lasting impact on their families and fellow responders, and honor the people who answered the call for help.
